Graduating Seniors Exhibition 2017

The University Museum presents its annual exhibition of graduating seniors at the Midtown Art Gallery located at 3414 La Branch. This year the gallery is focused on the work of seven innovative emerging artists: Derrick Brown, Quenton Byers, Frederica Grant, Charles Howard, Larry McCoy, Bradley Ward, and Miles Watson. The exhibition features over 50 works of art representing a range of styles and mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and photography. The tradition of the Graduating Seniors Exhibition celebrates the legacy of the excellence in the Arts at Texas Southern University. This exhibition is the final requirement for these young gifted artists in their quest to obtain their first degree in Fine Arts. The exhibition will be on view Friday, May 12 to Sunday, May 28, with a special opening reception at 6pm on May 12. We welcome all to join us, in the introduction of our graduating seniors to the art community of Houston.

The University Museum at Texas Southern University focuses on the preservation and documentation of historic collections of African and African American art, along with the art of other cultures found throughout the world. Training the next generation of young professionals is an ongoing mission for the museum. Through special exhibitions, educational programming, and hands on workshops, our museum serves as a platform for bringing the arts to the daily lives of students, families, and art patrons of the Greater Houston community and beyond.

The Midtown Art Center is devoted to the stimulation, creativity, and maturity of the arts in Houston.  A multi-disciplined and multi-cultural approach is the foundation of the Midtown Art Center’s intertwining visual, written, theatrical and musical expression.
